Get the Look: Hello Monster!

Just a quick disclaimer, this was Poppy's idea. I think it's pretty clever, so I'm running with it, but I'd never have thought to do it without her prompting.

Get-the-Look-Hello-MonsterMost of you know me as Bill, the blogmaster general here at the Ebates blog. I lead a somewhat silly life filled with free shipping deals, random merchants, and the occasional bizarre find on eBay. However, most people who only know me through Ebates channels don't realize I also am a musician, and in honor of my band's upcoming show, which has the office all abuzz, I decided to do a little "get the look" special for our own blend of clean cut non-offensive rock boy sexiness. (and that's me on the right, in case you were wondering)

The most essential thing about playing in a band like this is pants. It sounds crazy, because who really looks at your pants when you're onstage, but I tell you this: if your pants are uncomfortable, you will have a bad night, and if your pants are not durable, you will rip something somewhere embarrassing when loading your gear in or out. For my money, you can't beat Dickies. I usually tend towards the grey, though black work in this look just as well. Whatever color, both work with 4.0% Cash Back on already-low prices.

For the shirt, I recommend the Old Navy Poplin shirt. Gap used to make one that I still wear and love, but alas that one disappeared about five years ago, but these shirts come in at a close second. Even with a tie, it's nice to have a softer collar, and the fit is a size, rather than specific measurements, so I recommend getting two sizes around what you might be, and figuring which fit you like better. Still, for just $20 at the moment, with 4.0% Cash Back, you're doing just fine with the Old Navy option.

The only rule in capturing our look with regards to ties is that it's got to be striped, preferably red. Sometimes it's best to stick with what you know works, and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Men's Wearhouse always has good looking ties and 4.5% Cash Back. At the moment, they're currently offering a deal on ties where you buy one, get one 50% off, which is nothing to shake a stick at. Plus, they offer tutorials on how to tie a tie, which always helps!

Finally, the shoes. This is what sets us apart. Most bands, if they bother with the whole shirt and tie look, the knee-jerk automatic shoe of choice would be a boot, but keeping things a little bit younger and more fun, I am always a proponent of the Saucony Jazz. Like most of the Hello Monster color palette, I stick with the black and silver, which ties nicely from the black shirt and the grey pants. They're currently $45.95 at ShoeBuy, who offers both free shipping and free returns, and a whopping 10.0% Cash Back.

So there you have it, now when we blow up, you can say "I know how much cash back that guy used to earn on his outfits."
