East Coast Survival Guide

Turtleneck_under_dressIf there is one true statement to be made about east coasters, it's that we are creatures of habit. If there is a second true statement about us, it's that our lives are dictated by the seasons. The seasons, after all, affect our activities, moods, and wardrobe. It's for this reason that every Fall we put away our summer clothes and pull out sweaters, turtlenecks, and other cold weather items which we have not seen for months. For me, the process was actually quite fun, as I always found things that were nearly forgotten. Seeing the cashmere sweater I lived in, or the suede coat I couldn't take off was like seeing old friends again. This all came to a sudden halt when I moved to San Francisco and realized that the City by the Bay was in a constant state of Spring. Some rain, some cold, mostly mild, never Maxstudtio_dresshot. Although this may sound appealing, it quickly led to the fashion doldrums and wardrobe boredom.

With no wind chill factor breathing down my neck, there was no reason to make the shift, thus no excitement at seeing old friends again. That dress I used to adore was now always staring me in the face. The pashmina wrap that was once my favorite accessory now looked tired and dull. After scratching my head for a few, I realized it wasn't about what I wore, but how I wore it. Instead of wearing a strappy dress alone, I decided to jazz it up with a turtleneck and a funky belt. This dress from MaxStudio is not only on sale for $58, but you'll receive a whopping 6% Cash Back. I can't think of a more perfect example of a Summer piece that can be taken into Fall, even Winter. Pair with knit stockings and the right boots to create a fashion forward look. Use the money saved to take your dress on a warm weather vacation.
