If you've been in a electronics store lately, you've probably noticed HDTV prices stabilizing before the big holiday rush. Thankfully, the Internet is still a great source for rock-bottom deals, and this one-day special from Second Act is no exception. For a limited time only (read: today), grab this brand new 47" 1080p Philips Flat Panel LCD HDTV for only $999; almost $600 off what you'd normally pay in stores!
Many readers know SecondAct.com for their phenomenal section of refurbished and open-box items. What some don't know, however, is that SecondAct actually features brand new products in addition to their array of reconditioned and discounted items. This Philips HDTV is one of those "specially-discounted" new items, and is a superb deal considering all of its features. For starters, the Philips 47" LCD HDTV displays full 1080p HD resolution that leaves rival plasma HDTVs shuddering in their stands. It also features Philips' special "Digital Natural Motion" technology that smooths fast-moving pictures much like 120hz HDTVs, giving you a great picture at half the price.
In addition to its trio of HDMI inputs for all your high-def needs, the Philips 47PFL5603D has been dubbed the "Eco TV" thanks to its low power usage and special "power saver mode", which drops its average usage to one third that of its competitors. For the environmentally conscious, there isn't a TV that compares. Take a peek at CNET's breakdown of the Eco TV's yearly cost:
In default picture mode, we estimate it will cost just $28.69 in electricity to run the 42PFL4603D for a year--about $6 less than its closest competitor--while power saver mode brings that cost down to $21.28. That estimate assumes a cost of 10.6 cents per kilowatt hour and a picture-on time of 8 hours per day, both national averages.
With such drastic differences in power consumption, the Eco TV is a great choice for anyone wanting to save a few bucks and help do their green duty. One thing you might want to keep in mind is that it may not be the perfect companion for extremely bright rooms due to its moderate black levels, so you might want to look elsewhere if you're planning on shoving it in your sunroom. But if you're like most people who have a TV taking up a corner of their dimly-lit den, this 47" beauty should do wonderfully and save you tons in the long run. On top of the $600 savings, SecondAct packs one of the biggest Cash Back percentages among its competition (4%), so you can sleep tight knowing you got the absolute lowest price on the internet - only $960 before shipping. There's nothing better than that!

now I just need a cool tv cabinet that will hold this monster (I mean 'beauty').
I always consider anything over 50" to be a monster, but I won't disagree with you that this thing is large. I'm always impressed by how much smaller HDTVs are than the old rear-projection TVs. My parents have a 55" TV from 1998 or so, and I'm pretty sure it takes up about half their house.
So, remember: things could always be bigger! :)
