I can equate my relationship with articles of denim in my wardrobe to my first friendships in grade school: short in duration and I pick favorites. I will have a favorite pair of jeans for a month or two that I tend to wear just about every day, and then I rediscover another pair or purchase something new to throw into the rotation. This is the cycle of my denim relationships.

Lately I have been noticing a void in my arsenal of denim wear. I need a denim jacket. I am not willing to buy something that looks brand new; that would require committing to making it worn-in and like a second skin. I want a denim jacket soul mate that is just right from the start, something that feels as if we have been together for years. I found a remastered vintage jacket from Urban Outfitters. It is part of their Urban Renewal line and is “created from denim jackets and every one is unique”. It is not love at first sight, but I feel hopeful about our future together. I like the wash of the denim and the cut looks similar to what I have in mind. The jacket is $58 dollars with 2% Cash Back. I plan on keeping it in mind while I check out a few other stores.

At Shopbop, I found this Current/Elliot Shrunken Jean Jacket. It is pretty much perfect. I like that it has longer sleeves, because I am a habitual sleeve roller. The wash is great and I also like that the denim is mixed with a little polyester for extra softness and a little give. It retails for $239 with 3% Cash Back. It is definitely worth the investment, I think we could have a long relationship together. Now all I have to do is wait 5-7 business days for my new B.F.F. to arrive while I enjoy the new deposit of Cash Back to my Ebates account. If only real relationships could be so simple...
