The Ambilight is a REALLY nice TV. I saw it in action at one of the local electronics superstores and I don't understand the physics of it, but the ambient light somehow makes the TV easier on your eyes.
Either way, once you go HDTV, you won't go back. The difference between HDTV and standard cable is like the difference between dial-up and high-speed internet. It's truly amazing, and if you can get a good deal on it between the coupons and the instant rebates, go for it!
